Birthday Gifts

Sorry for the delay - here are the pics of my sisters birthday present... I made her the patchwork bordered apron from this book. And with the scraps I also made her a kitchen towel and pot holder.

The hardest part (as always with patchwork) was choosing 7 fabrics to use... but I am really happy with how it turned out. I wrapped with up with this divine cookbook so hopefully she'll get a bit of use from it.

Hope you have all enjoyed your Mother's Day... mine was full of bike riding (well, the kids, not me!)

  1. The fabric colours you chose look lovely on the apron, I would never have guessed it was an apron how very sweet to have a patchwork edge. Your gifts to you sister are very sweet and thoughtful I'm sure they will be well used.:)

  4. what lovely gifts! I have been asked to make an oven mitt -one of those long ones that you can hang over your oven door handle with a mitt at each end. have never used binding before but already just doing the little bits at the top of the mitts i am not doing very well at all, think I need wider binding to make it easier with all those layers. eeek! i can see why people have warned me about binding now!

  5. I love your apron! If I could sew half way decent I would gift one of these to my sis in law the cook in the family. Your colors you chose are very complimentary, as is the other pieces you made. Beautiful work.

  6. I am with you on that Megan - I did a very quick job on the pot holder as it was a last minute addition and I just used some of the linen/hemp scrap which was hard to sew anyway... good luck with your oven mit!
